Its nearly hibernation time and as the Hedgehog Street Champion I need to get into action.
There are many purpose built Hedgehog habitats available to buy, mostly at a costly £40 each and what with this years philanthropic projects, £40 was not easy to come by so....
My wonderful husband produced this a couple of weeks ago as a residence for our local hedgehog at home.
The allotment hedgehog family (of which I'm sure there is one for reasons I couldn't explain with out crying) have ample places to stay over winter along with all the other wildlife. The pond area and behind is completely devoted to wildlife of all kinds, along with the large Oak tree and several other trees and bushes in the hedgerow behind our plot - we now sleep soundly that everyone has somewhere to stay during the snow (well I sleep soundly)!
So we moved "Hedgehog Cottage" to the house but alas no hedgehog or hedgehog family as yet, below are a few landscaping pictures ;-) :

Needless to say I will keep you updated with the latest from the "little village"...I've yet to find out where but we definitely have some local bats, feral cats, cats wanting more supper and a whole flock of pigeons in the "little village" that is my front garden!
I hope your wildlife neighbours appreciate all the efforts you've gone to so that they can have a snuggly winter.
