Beans, Potatoes and Mr Robin

Due to the stormy yet strangely warm weather we decided to plant the second batch of potatoes instead of the usual and yet necessary weeding!

We planted three rows in each bed of, Charlotte (Second Early), Pentland Javelin (First Early) and Cara (Main crop)

Also planted some Runner and French beans along the path separating growing area and animal play areas.  In case of frost we covered them with fleece (not shown).  I have some work to do on the trellis design for this year, I’ missing some 2m bamboo poles - There is always something to buy!

I’ve included a picture of our little Robin friend - Mr Robin.  

He and his mate visit us regularly and we have come to a special arrangement around May time each year - we will collect a selection of tasty worms and display in a special place, their part of the deal is to eat as many aphids as possible when they appear...we also use netting though!
