Slow month except for the Salads

Freddy our Tortoise has had the first few mini harvests of Alpine strawberries. When I say harvest I mean a picking of one or two really, he’s happy though and will be even happier when the raspberries are ready...

These are the giant strawberries we’re growing this year for the first time - look at the giant flowers offering lots of potential or am I just hoping they’ll be giant! We have a lot riding on these this year amongst our friends and non believers ;-)

We've had a quiet couple of weeks at the allotment what with weddings and other similar events to attend. Everything is growing as it should Including the weeds which are looking lush and healthy, just what we need for the coming dry months but we do have masses of different leaves and salads and radishes; all to be eaten before they bolt.

Planted 60 onions over the last couple of weeks, Elista, Red Baron and Athur F1 - Image isn’t great lets just say they looked better immediately after I’d planted them!  Elista is an unusual onion so far as looks go, it is a long tubular/flattish oval shape (delightful) and ideal for sandwiches / burgers and anything else you like to eat slices of raw onion with. A picture will follow when they start looking like mini onions and not like straggly leeks.
